No Student Should Be Afraid To Go To School!
This was the message of this year’s Open House Assembly. A service
professional from Dubuque, Iowa, Jim Jelinske, spoke with the
staff, parents, and students about how we can all work together to
take a stance against bullying. Jim told the students that
“everybody has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.”
Jim also taught the students that they must say “STOP” to
the person bullying, then “THINK, and REPORT” to an
adult. The staff has followed up with posters, bulletin boards, and
class discussions. We hope that by starting the year out with this
clear message we can all make school a safe place in which every
child feels they belong. When children feel safe, learning takes
place. The funding for this assembly was a joint effort between the
school and PTA. Thanks to all who were a part of making this
possible!
