Back to School Information

by Robin Becker

With the start of the 2010-11 school year only a few weeks away, the halls of Germantown Elementary School will soon be bustling with student activity. We look forward to working with all Germantown Elementary families to make the upcoming year a success.

Please keep the following dates in mind when preparing for the start of the school year.

Friday, August 6 – Student Registration

Registration for all Germantown School District 60 students entering kindergarten through eighth grade will take place in the cafeteria at Germantown Elementary School on Friday, August 6, from 8:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M. At the time of registration parents will be asked to fill out a few forms and pay any applicable registration fees. Important information will be dispersed at registration.

Illinois state law requires the following where health services are concerned:

• Physicals are required for students entering pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and sixth grade. They are also required for students transferring to the district from out of state/country.
• Dental examinations are required for all children entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades.
• A comprehensive eye exam is required for children entering kindergarten or enrolling for the first time in an Illinois school. The eye exam must be conducted by a qualified eye doctor and take place within one year prior to kindergarten students starting school in the fall and for all students who are entering school for the first time in Illinois.

Completed physical, dental, and eye exam forms can be turned in to the school office any time prior to the start of the school year.

Residency verification forms will be available at registration for those who are registering a student in the district for the first time as families with students new to the district will be required to provide three proofs of residency.  Examples of acceptable proofs of residency include lease or mortgage papers, home rental insurance, occupancy permit, property tax receipt, driver’s license, utility bill, etc.
