2009 Bulldog Dash on track for May 16th.
The Fifth Annual Bulldog Dash will be held Saturday, May 16 at
Schoendienst Park in Germantown. The 5K run/walk begins at 9 a.m.
with the 2K run/walk starting at 10 a.m. The Bulldog Dash Run/Walk
is a fundraiser sponsored and promoted by members of the community
for children of Germantown Elementary. It is endorsed by members of
the Germantown School Board who determine which programs and
projects will be funded with proceeds from the event.
Over the past four years, the Bulldog Dash has provided over
$50,000 which has directly benefited students of Germantown
Elementary through the purchase of additional technology like
computer hardware, SmartBoard projectors, wireless technology
connectivity and automated electronic defibrillator equipment. It
has also provided funding for Homework Headquarters and Challenge,
the districts after school tutoring and gifted programs.
The race is generously supported each year by local sponsors,
donating at various levels, including Diamond - $1,000, Gold -
$500, Silver - $300, Bronze - $175 and Friend - under $175. The

Dash committee members anticipate a record number of participants
in this years Bulldog Dash. Last year, the event drew 420
registered participants, an increase over the 388 runners/walkers
who participated in 2007.
The start and finish lines for all events will be held at
Schoendienst Park, just off Route 161 in Germantown.
Event T-shirts will be provided for preregistered entrants.
Registration is $17 for anyone who has their registration form
postmarked by May 2. The fee for registrations after May 2 is $25.
Race day registration is also available from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. Race
packets can be picked up between 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. on the day of
the race. For more information, registration forms can be

will be presented with trophies given to the top three males and
females in each event and medals awarded to the top three males and
females in each age category for each event. In addition, medals
will be presented to all participants age 9 and under.
Last years top winners included: 5K male - Jason Olszowka (15:23),
5K female - Jennifer Wieman-Smith (20:41),
2K male - Austin Benhoff (7:13), and 2K female - Brittany Becker
(9:28).
The committee has added a Masters Division this year in which a
trophy will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers
age 40 and over. There will also be attendance prizes and plenty of
refreshments and snacks.
The Bulldog Dash Committee is chaired by Rick Sherman and committee
members are Geralyn Albers, Sherri Diesen, Ann Loepker, Jennifer
Wempe, Jamie Dumstorff, Becky Kuhl, Lisa Boeckmann, Dawn Honer and
Denise Haake.
