Team Quest Advances to Regionals
February 21, 2008
Germantown Elementary 3rd & 4th grade Team Quest participants tied for 9th place at the Adventures in Learning Team Quest held Monday, January 28, 2008 at Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia.
‘The Great American Melting Pot’ was this year’s theme and all the activities were centered around ones culture or heritage.
One activity the students participated in was trivia questions that corresponded to a deck of cards that had famous people on them. Sometimes, they were asked to think of that person’s last name, then determine their heritage.
Another activity they participated in was building something that could ‘scoop’ cooked spaghetti and ‘meatballs’ (large marbles) onto a plate. They then had to use these utensils and were timed to see how much they could put on the dish in a specified time period.
The creative activity for the day was to build a suitcase and decorate it to show a countries’ heritage. Our students put most of their energy into the function of the suitcase and less creativity, but it did look like a real suitcase.
Other activities included listening to music and determining its origin, and a math worksheet.
The 3rd & 4th grade team will head to Mt. Vernon on Friday, February 29 to participate in the Team Quest Regionals. The theme for that activity is ‘Water World’.
